Dance Packs Click on the images to the left to find out more! These resource packs comprise a collection of dance themes; each has comprehensive, easy-to-follow lesson progressions and a unique music soundtrack. Designed to maximise the learning experience of children while making it easier for the teacher, the various themes have been tried and tested in many primary schools, with very positive results. These resources enable non-specialist teachers to explore dance through a wide variety of themes and topics. They give professional guidance on how to initiate, teach and develop lessons at primary level. Dance Français Dance Français is a unique cross-curricular resource and is an ideal way to introduce French in line with the National Curriculum requirement for French in September 2007. The QCA state "The learning of a foreign language provides a medium for cross-curricular links and for the reinforcement of knowledge, skills and understanding developed in other subjects." The pack also raises the awareness of PE/dance as a cross-curricular tool. Each theme is divided into seven sections designed to introduce French and movement vocabulary to its maximum potential. This format may be used as an individual lesson, a block of lessons or a workshop culminating in a performance. All themes could be used, in any order, throughout the entire key stage. Emphasis may be placed on one or more areas depending on the lesson focus or the specific needs of the group. Dance Angles Key Stage 1 and 2 Themes complement or reinforce topics covered within KS1/KS2 and take inspiration from the world around us, everyday life, music, books, historical events and traditional dance. Each theme can be delivered as a separate entity, or as a scheme of work. The themes are each divided into three lessons, designed to enable pupils to slowly develop a movement vocabulary and work towards a performance. It is possible however, to choose one theme and explore that in a workshop. Either condense the work, or focus on a specific area, for an intense experience, culminating in a performance. This can be dramatic and exciting with very visible progress and a greater emphasis on performance skills. All themes could be used, in any order, throughout the entire key stage. Olympic Moves Resource Pack A pack of individual laminated lesson plans designed to raise awareness of all aspects of the Olympics through dance. Themes focus on the Olympic sports; elite performers; the venues; symbols and ceremonies. The material offers opportunities through leadership; citizenship and PSHE to explore values and the importance of the Olympic ideals in our everyday lives. Attention is given to performance ideas, development and extension suggestions. Written and pilotted by an SSCo to develop primary resources in dance and raise the standard and quality of dance in schools.
