Let us take your children on a journey through dance ...

Dance Angles presents Dance Workshops for KS1 and KS2.

Children will be introduced to a movement vocabulary through a dance theme of your choice. The theme may be designed to compliment the curriculum, reinforce learning or explore an independent issue.

Examples include:

  • Exploring different cultures through Theme Days e.g. Egyptian, Chinese, French, Spanish, African, Aborigina days.
  • Exploring literature and poetry from a different perspective e.g. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl, or Beowulf by Rosemary Sutcliff.
  • Marking Historical events such as The Great Fire of London.
  • Examining current issues e.g. The Environment, Global Warming or Recycling.
  • The World Around Us e.g. The Sea, Mountains or Our Community.
  • Compliment / Reinforce programmes of study in other subject areas thus strengthening cross-curricular links e.g. Forces in Science or Time in Maths.

Workshops may be designed to explore a variety of dance styles from traditional dance from around the world to contemporary dance using improvisation skills or structures routines and body management.

Workshops are tailored to suit individual School needs and usually follow one of the following formats:

  • A class or group experiences a whole day workshop examining a topic and developing an extended piece.
  • Two groups divided into morning and afternoon sessions explore the same or different themes, developing contrasting pieces.
  • A maximum of 8 selected groups each experience a 40 minute workshop exploring the same theme from different perspectives to develop different dance pieces.

Ideas and movements are developed and combined with costume, props and face paint to produce a performance which can be watched by other pupils and recorded on video.

  • A single, large block of time improves the quality of work and the amount of material covered.
  • Meets the National Curriculum requirements for Dance at KS1/KS2.
  • A specialist teacher brings fresh ideas and a new approach
  • Teaches presentation, performance and audience skills
  • Increases confidence

Prices range from £450 to £500 plus travel expenses.
